A regular cleaner in Hemel Hempstead costs £23 an hour on a weekly rota, or £24 an hour fortnightly, for each cleaner on the visit. Visits run for three hours at least, so a weekly clean starts at £69. The same cleaner comes back each time, holidays aside.
Rates for a standing booking
| How often | Per cleaner, per hour | 3 hours | 4 hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weekly | £23 | £69 | £92 |
| Fortnightly | £24 | £72 | £96 |
Fortnightly is a pound dearer per hour. Two weeks of dust, cooking splashes and bathroom scale take longer to clear than one. Ironing costs £12 an hour and is added on top of the cleaning hours, so it never eats into them. The £67 minimum on one-off jobs does not apply to a regular booking.
Keys for commuter households
Hemel Hempstead station is down in Boxmoor, with trains to Euston on the West Coast Main Line, and Apsley is one stop south for the canal end of town. A good share of our regulars are on a platform by half past seven. So the usual arrangement is a key. Either you leave one with us or you fit a key safe by the door and send us the number. The newer infill flats round the Marlowes mostly go the key safe route, since their entryphones cause more trouble than they save.
Home during the day? That suits us too. Say which you prefer at the start.
A typical visit
- Kitchen worktops, the sink, the hob and the unit fronts wiped down
- Bathrooms cleaned, with a descale whenever the scale is back, which in this town means most weeks
- All floors vacuumed, hard floors mopped
- Dusting, mirrors and skirtings worked through on a rotation
- Beds changed when the clean linen is left out
Tell us at the start what matters most in your house. Three hours spent on your priorities are worth more than three hours spent on ours.
The first visit runs slow
Expect the first clean to take longer, or to leave one or two jobs for next time. A cleaner new to your home spends the first hour learning where things live and what the previous person let slide. By the third visit the same three hours cover noticeably more ground, which is the whole case for keeping one person on each address. A short note left on the side the first time (the bathroom that matters, the plant that must not be moved) speeds that up a great deal.
Carrying kit up the maisonette stairs
The blocks at Adeyfield, Grovehill and Bennetts End climb three or four storeys on concrete stairs with no lift. A full kit does not go up those. A light vacuum and a caddy do, and any heavy work is booked as a separate visit with two cleaners. In the family houses of Warners End and on the later estate at Woodhall Farm, parking is off the road, so everything comes in from the van and the hour goes further. Round Bennetts End the slope means steps at most front doors, which we allow for.
Scale comes back every week
Hemel’s water is hard, about 283 mg/l off the chalk, and it shows in a bathroom within days. A shower screen wiped on Monday has a faint white bloom by the following week. Our regular cleaners descale little and often, a few minutes on the glass and taps each visit, which keeps the build-up thin enough that it never needs a scraper.
Fitting the rota round you
You pick the day and roughly the time, and we keep it. Most regulars settle on a morning slot while the house is empty. If a week does not suit, a text a day or so ahead is usually enough to move it.
Starting from a reset
Some houses need catching up before a weekly rota can keep them level. A one-off deep clean does that at a team rate, and plenty of our regulars started that way.
Two jobs are priced on their own and booked next to the regular visit. Ovens go by size because of the dip tank, from £77, and carpets go by the room, from £36 a bedroom. Every service we offer is set out on the main page.
Questions we get asked
How much is a regular cleaner in Hemel Hempstead?
£23 an hour weekly and £24 fortnightly, per cleaner, with three hours as the shortest visit. That makes a three-hour weekly clean £69 and a fortnightly one £72. Ironing is extra at £12 an hour.
Why is fortnightly dearer by the hour?
Two weeks of dust and bathroom scale take more work than one. The higher rate pays for a harder visit.
Will it be the same cleaner each time?
That is the plan, and it holds most weeks. A cleaner who knows your kitchen works faster and knows where the bin bags are kept. If holidays or illness mean a swap, we tell you beforehand.
Do I need to be in?
No. Many of our Hemel regulars are on a Euston train by half seven. You can leave a key with us, or fit a key safe and give us the number.
Can ironing fit into the three hours?
It is booked as extra time at £12 an hour, so your cleaning hours stay whole. Leave the basket out and tell us how long you would like on it.
