Cleaners in Adeyfield

Adeyfield, in HP2, was the first neighbourhood unit built under Hemel’s 1947 new town plan, and it still centres on its own shopping parade. We work here most weeks, at the same prices as everywhere else in town: £77 for a single oven and £36 for a bedroom carpet.

A neighbourhood of lets

Adeyfield, Highfield and Grovehill hold the largest share of Hemel’s privately rented flats. With no university in town, tenancies end all year round, and the renters are mostly commuters or people working at Maylands and in the sheds off junction 8. So tenancy cleans are our commonest Adeyfield job. One bedroom is £207, two £243 and three £339, agreed before we start, with £31 more for the oven if the agent wants it.

Maisonettes on concrete stairs

The maisonette blocks here rise three or four floors on a shared concrete staircase. No lift. That one detail shapes the whole job, because a top floor flat means the machine goes up by hand or the hose is fed through the stairwell from the van, and each adds around twenty minutes at either end. Tell us the floor when you ring. The slot we give you will then be the right length.

Carpets at check-out

Most of these maisonettes were let with fitted carpet, and the agents usually want it extracted when the tenant leaves. Done alongside the move-out, each bedroom is £29, the lounge £36 and the internal flight £35. A two bedroom maisonette with one inside staircase adds £129 to the clean. The Highfield maisonette blocks are on the same round, so all of this applies there too.

Ovens and small carpet jobs

Our oven clean costs £77 (single) or £110 (double). The racks go down to soak in the van’s heated tank, and upstairs the cavity and door glass are cleaned at your worktop. Carpets have a catch worth knowing. Anything booked once has a £67 floor, so one bedroom carpet on its own is charged at £67. Add the stairs and it becomes £77 of work, which is why most carpet bookings up here take in the flight as well.

Parking by the parade

Getting the van close is easier than in the centre. There are bays round the parade, and the residential roads off it sit outside the controlled zone, so we can usually stop near a block entrance. The bays fill up in the evening. That is the main reason we push for morning slots here.

Buses from the Marlowes

The Arriva 500 and 501 run from the Marlowes interchange out to Adeyfield, which matters for the cleaners on our regular rounds more than for the van, and it makes an early slot easy to staff. Further out on the north-east edge you are on the Grovehill round, and south towards the A414 it is Bennetts End. The rest of our prices are on the main page.

Questions we get asked

What does a tenancy clean cost for a two bedroom maisonette in Adeyfield?

£243, set by the number of bedrooms. The oven adds £31. Carpets done at the same time are £29 a bedroom and £35 a flight, and most agents here ask for them where the flat was let with fitted carpet.

I am on the third floor with no lift. Can you still do it?

Yes, that is routine up here. We bring lighter kit and allow about twenty minutes at each end for the carry, so just tell us the floor when you book.

Do small jobs have a minimum price?

Yes, £67 on anything booked once. Nearly every job passes it, though one bedroom carpet on its own would be charged at £67. Regular hourly cleaning has a three-hour minimum visit instead.

Where does the van park?

Usually close by. The roads off the parade sit outside the controlled zone and there are bays round the shops. They fill in the evening, so we tend to book Adeyfield jobs in the morning.
