Working in Hemel Hempstead
Hemel Hempstead is a 1947 New Town, so the bulk of the housing is 1950s to 1970s: neighbourhood units such as Adeyfield, Bennetts End, Warners End and Grovehill built as terraces, semis and low-rise maisonette blocks around their own shopping parades and green wedges. Above that sits the Old Town, with Georgian and earlier houses along the High Street, and Edwardian and 1930s villas in Boxmoor and Felden. Later phases added Woodhall Farm, Fields End and the Apsley Lock canalside apartments, plus a continuing run of infill flats around the Marlowes.

Water is genuinely hard here, measured around 283 mg/l CaCO3 by Affinity Water from the chalk aquifer, so kettles, shower screens and oven door glass scale up fast and every clean needs a descaler on the van.
Dacorum runs controlled parking zones across the town centre, Old Town and station streets; permits moved to the Zatpermit system in October 2025 and CPZ resident permit prices rose from 1 April 2026 (first annual permit £40 to £50).
New town maisonette blocks in Adeyfield, Grovehill and Bennetts End typically have three or four storeys, communal concrete stairs and no lift, which decides whether a machine goes up or a hose gets run from the van.
Water here is hard, so limescale on taps, screens and kettles takes longer than people expect.
What we get called out for

End of tenancy
The full move-out clean, priced by property size. Oven, inside cupboards, limescale, the lot.

Carpets
Hot water extraction, not a bonnet mop. Most rooms are dry enough to walk on in a couple of hours.

Regular housework
Weekly or fortnightly, charged per cleaner per hour. Same person kept on your house.
Prices
These are our standard prices, not a teaser rate. A one bedroom flat is £207 for a full end of tenancy clean. Carpets and ovens are priced separately, because not everyone needs them.
